Sunday 18th October

• A warm welcome is extended to all who gather for worship and especially to any visitors. Please sign our Visitors’ Book in the vestibule.   
• Thanks to Rev Dr Graham Blount who is leading both services this morning.
• 9.45am Morning worship in the church at Dairsie and Sunday School in the church hall.
• 11.15am Morning Worship in the church at St John’s and Sunday Youth Groups in the church hall.
• Everyone is invited round to the hall for tea, coffee and juice after the 11.15am service.

Wednesday 21st October

• 9.30-10am Half-hour midweek service in the church hall at St John’s followed by tea/coffee. All welcome.
• 2-4pm The Leisure Group resumes for Carpet Bowls, tea and chat every Wednesday in the Hall. 
• The Ladies Group start the session with a Celebration of Tea. Kathleen Macnaughton invites you to a special tea party. Come along and join us at 7.30 pm.

Thursday 22nd October

• The Sixteen are giving a concert in Holy Trinity Church, St Andrews. Part  of   the annual Choral Pilgrimage tour and featuring a programme of a cappella works by Purcell and MacMillan, ‘Bright Orb of Harmony’. Tickets now available from The Byre Theatre: 01334 475 000

Friday 23rd October

• 8.30am -12noon The Church Gardening Group meets to look after the church grounds at St John’s. Past members and any others who wish to help will be made welcome any Friday morning.
• 2-4pm Time Together in the church hall at St John’s. This is an opportunity for a chat, a game of Scrabble and a cup of tea. Work on your craft interests or simply share them with others. Transport may be arranged for any who would find it difficult to come otherwise.
• 7.30pm Saltmine Theatre Company presents ‘In the Beginning’, a comedy caper written by David Robertson and Richard Hasnip, in Cupar Baptist Church. Tickets priced £5 (£3) are available from Roma More Tel 656379 or from the box office, Tel 656332

Saturday 24th October

• 7.30pm Saltmine Theatre Company presents ‘Finding God in Unexpected Places’ in Cupar Baptist Church. Based on the book by best selling author Philip Yancey, tickets £5 (£3) are available as shown above.

• 7.30pm Fellowship and Outreach Team Meeting in the hall at St John’s.

Thursday 29th October

• 5.15pm James Gregory Lecture in Science and Religion -  ‘God Science and the new Atheism’ by Rev Prof Keith Ward. Younger Hall, North St, St Andrews.  Free of charge and followed by a reception until 7pm.
• 7pm  Finance Team Meeting in the Church Hall at Dairsie.
• The Prayer Group will meet at 7.30pm in St John's Session Room. The Bible Study Group meets at 8pm following the Prayer Group. All welcome to either or both meetings.

Sunday 1st November - All Saints Day Service

• 2.30pm A special service for those who have been bereaved during the last year or for those who want to remember the life of a loved one who has died will be held in Cupar Old Parish Church on All Saints Day followed by afternoon tea in the OPC.  Everyone will be most welcome to attend.

Tuesday 3rd November

• 7.30pm Kirk Session Meeting in the hall at St John’s.

2010 Church Calendars

• More calendars (available in two sizes in aid of Church Funds, price £3.50 and £7.50) will be available late October. Orders still being taken until these run out. See notice boards for details and order forms.

Shoe Box Appeal 2009

• Your help is needed to brighten up Christmas for families in Eastern Europe. Leaflets giving more information are available in the pews – please take one. The boxes will be uplifted by the lorry on Tuesday 20th October, so they must be returned to the Church by Sunday 18th October at the latest Please only use regular sized shoe boxes and rubber bands to secure the box as customs regulations require Blythswood Care to check the contents of each box.

Scottish Bible Society

• Your monthly contribution for October which can be placed in the envelope in the vestibule at St John’s will help the Bible Society provide Scriptures to the people of Belarus.

Crossreach

• Christmas will soon be here. That brings us once again the Crossreach Catalogue.  The cards in this year’s catalogue are impressive, with a wide range of styles. There are also some nice gift ideas. Order forms will be placed on the tables in the hall after the service today, and on Sunday 25th October. Please see Margaret Kennedy if you are keen to place an order.  Remember that Crossreach is the Church of Scotland’s   Care provider; providing care to a wide range of people, young and old, with varying needs. The organisation relies heavily on our generosity, purchases from the catalogue being one of the many ways of giving a little.

Gift Aid Declaration Forms 

• We are still having some difficulties in completing the transition from two linked churches to a single United Church as far as the recovery of much needed funds from the Tax Man.   If you do pay any Tax, whether it is deducted at source from income, savings or investments or because you get a bill from the Inland Revenue at the end of the year, the church can claim back an extra 25 pence on every pound that you donate if you sign a Gift Aid Declaration Form.  This refund happens without any cost to yourself and the arrangement can be cancelled by you at any time. Gift Aid Declaration forms have been sent out to most members of the congregation who donate regularly, whether they do so by Weekly Freewill Offering envelopes, Bank Standing Order or by cheque, but some forms have yet to be returned.   It would be a great help if any one who does pay tax and who is happy to sign this Declaration form but has not yet done so would do so as soon as possible.   If you have mislaid your form they are available on the table in the vestibule so please take one as you leave the church.

• During the Minister’s absence, Pastoral Cover is being supplied by Rev Caroline Taylor and Rev Iain Paton as available.
