Sunday 23rd May 2010 - Pentecost

  • A warm welcome is extended to all who gather for worship and especially to any visitors. Please sign our Visitors’ Book in the vestibule. 
  • A special welcome and thanks to Dr Bill Kinnis who is leading our services this morning.
  • 9.45am Morning worship in the church at Dairsie. Sunday School and Crèche in the church hall.
  • 11am Sunday Youth Groups in the church hall at St John’s.
  • 11.15am Morning Worship in the Church at St John’s.
  • The Church Family Barbecue will take place after the service in the church grounds at St John’s. Everyone is invited.   The usual barbecue food as well as salad cakes, biscuits, tea, coffee and juice will be served.  No charge but donation buckets will be on hand.

Wednesday 26th May

  • 9.30-10am Half-hour midweek service in the church hall at St John’s followed by tea/coffee. All welcome.
  • Thursday 27th May
  • The Prayer Group will meet at 7.30pm in St John's Session Room. The Bible Study Group meets at 8pm following the Prayer Group. All welcome to either or both meetings.

Friday 28th May

  • Gardening Group meets in the grounds at St John’s between 8.30am and 12noon. New members welcome

Sunday 30th May

  • Morning worship 9.45am (church at Dairsie) and 11.15am (church at St John’s). Both services led by Mr David Murdoch and Rev Ian Wotherspoon
  • 11am Elders are asked to meet in the Session Room at St John’s
  • During the morning service at St John’s there will be the admission of new Communicants and the Sacrament of Baptism. Also, each of the children and young people will receive the gift of a book as the current session comes to an end. 

Monday 31st May

  • 7.30pm Studies in the Gospel of Mark. The final week of this course led by Rev Dr Ken Jeffrey, in the Kate Grewar lounge of the Old Parish Centre. Everyone is very welcome.

Recipe Book

  • Please don’t forget that all men and boys who provided baking for sale at the Coffee Evening are asked to give their recipes to Monica Mackay who is compiling a book to raise further funds.  Please also feel free to include your favourite recipes even if not used on the night. Summer Services

  • We hope that four services in July will be taken by teams from the congregation. The first one will be taken in St. John's on 4th July by the Sunday Squad and then alternately Dairsie and St. John's.  Please put you name on the sheet of paper in the organ corner, indicating the suitable dates. Do not be afraid to take part, even if you feel you can only do the reading. We hope to have representatives from Dairsie and St.John's in each service. 

Summer Activities

  • During the summer the usual Sunday Activities (which include games and a snack) will be available in the hall for children and young people of all ages.  Queries to Mari Black Tel 654676.

Finance Team

New members of the Finance Team are urgently needed. If you are interested, please let Colin Campbell Brown know or tell the Session Clerk. Volunteers for all teams will be welcomed.  

Guild Outing

The Guild Outing to Deep Sea World in North Queensferry will take place on Thursday June 10th.  Leaving from outside St John’s at 12noon and returning by 5pm.  Cost is £17 for transport and entry.  Names to Etta Jarvis, tel 652932

Christian Aid

  • For anyone who has not been visited by a Christian Aid collector, there are envelopes in the vestibule of the Church and in the Hall. They can be returned with the offering next week or any time thereafter. 

Tay Road Bridge Walk

  • Sponsor sheets for the Tay Bridge Cross on 12th June are now available and can be obtained from Muriel Dymock.

Knitting for Blythswood Care

  • Anyone interested in helping knit or crochet squares to make into blankets - or supply double knitting wool - is asked to contact Mari Black (654676)

Tesco Vouchers

There is a box in the vestibule of the Church at St John’s for Tesco vouchers.
